I'm Back!

Well, I was on hiatus for a few months back. After the last post, I took a much-needed break from game. My husband and I both returned in January and it's been swell. One of our best friends (Durandel) made a linkshell and it's only a small group of us and I love it. We also applied (and got accepted) into an endgame linkshell, called "Fusion" which so far is pretty cool. The leaders are decent and the other members are cool. Only time will tell. (I don't want a repeat of rockage).

Soooo Not much going on. We started to level other jobs. I went back to Paladin, Vaul went back to Black Mage, and Durandel is leveling his Warior.

I recently downloaded fraps. Man oh man, that is the BEST program ever! It lets me take way better screenshots. They are much better quality, and you can take a picture of the chatlog, stats, etc.

Happy 2007

I hope everyone is doing well, had a Merry Christmahanukakwanzaka and a Happy New Year. Not much has been happening in game, just been meriting on the good 'ole WHM, un-retired my PLD (which is now 53) and doing all kinds of uber map quests. My in-game goal is to get every map available. I know it'll take me a long time, but it's just something I really want to do.

Anyway, I'll make a short story long.... /giggle

So yesterday I was just hanging out in game all day (no work ftw!) when I was just talking to one of my friends. I had told him I got Hexa Strike last week and he said the usual {Congratulations!}, then went on about how uber I would be with certain gear (Reverend mail, seawolf cudgel, robber cudgel, etc) to sub nin and then I might be able to solo something. (My nin is lvl 1... Lmao) Well, I told him, "I thought I told you I had my Reverend mail" He replies, "{Holy} {Calamity} you do???! Helllll yeaaah! All you need is Seawolf cudgel and you're set!" So I reply, "Hmmmmmmm seawolf cudgel huh? Who drops that?" He says, "NM on the ship to Mhaura" I say, "Coooool"

I hop on alla and look up info on the cudgel. Pretty nice item,if you ask me!

Hmmm Silverhook huh? Level 0? O_o /panic Meh, I can try. So I head to Selbina.....and get on the ship. No pirates. Ok, so I tele-holla and go back to Selbina. Again no pirates. Finally, I get like the 5th ship, and FINALLY pirates spawn (I learned about the chatlog trick with how the zone loads) but unfortunately, the middle pirate is not wearing a vermy cloak, soooo no Silverhook. /cry

Eventually, friends join me, so at this point, I have 4 friends trying to help me with the quest (aka help me keep my sanity from taking the ship so many darned times)
On like, the 12th ship, pirates spawn, the middle guy is wearing a vermy, AND SILVERHOOK SPAWNS! We pwn him... and THE CUDGEL DROPS! I was literally jumping out of my chair. My friends (Bless them) all passed on the cudgel and let me have it!!!!! I was so so happy.
We stayed on the ship for about 7 more rides, trying to get my other whm friend the cudgel. Unfortunately, the pirates only spawned one more time, and the middle guy wasn�t wearing a vermy, so... /sigh no Silverhook. And everyone was going insane on the ship, so we called it quits for the day.

Ah yes, it's that time of the year again where children, and children at heart, whisper their dreams and wishes to the stars--it's time for the Starlight Celebration! The people of Vana'diel are busy trimming up their towns with festive decorations, all to ring in this exciting event.

What's this? Something is going on in the courtyard! Let's see if the Moogles can fill us in...

Alright, you got me! I just can't keep a secret away from my favorite adventurer...

As you already know, the Starlight Celebration will begin in a few days. But what you don't know is that we Moogles are in a pickle, kupo. The trees that we had made for this year's festivities have vanished from Windurst! And what's worse, a terrifying treant has suddenly shown up at the Dhalmel Farm and is wreaking havoc on the locals, kupo!

Come to think of it, I haven't heard from my brothers and sisters working in Bastok and San d'Oria. What if there are crazy trees running amok in their towns as well...?



Wait a minute... Treants in the towns...?

Didn't something like this happen a few years ago? There was some kind of freak accident at the Rhinostery in Windurst, right? If this is the same thing, we're in biiig trouble!

Anyway, as long as these freaks of nature are trouncing about our towns, everybody will be too scared to come out and take part in the Starlight Celebration's festivities, kupo! Even the smilebringers have said that they won't pass out their presents until they're sure the children will be safe.

2006 Starlight Celebration: How To

First and foremost, TURN ON EMOTE FILTER. Trust me on this, or suffer from the spam of your chatlog passing by your eyes faster than the speed of sound. Also go to a moogle and buy a hat for 10k if you don't already have one.

Start out talking to any of the Dream Gear-wearing NPCs of any of the three regions for the event.

North San d'Oria: Charmealaut, F-7
Windurt Woods: Atagei-Portagei, H-8
Bastok Markets: Christina, D-11

They will give you a present for the kiddies, trade it to any child npc you can find; you'll know if it is an ok NPC by getting a message similar to:

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
You've brought barrelfulls of joy to the children of Vana'diel!

After that go find the tree! (You'll know the tree has spawned because the NPC with Dream Gear will disappear)
Once you find the tree spam "/cheer" it to death like everyone else around you, until he vanishes.
Go talk to the NPC and he will tell you to find the fake smile bringer.
So..... find the Fake Smile Bringer; they change each time. He'll be wearing a Dream Hat and when you click on him, a moogle will spawn.
Go talk to the orginal NPC and he'll give you a reward.

If you recieve fireworks as a reward, that means you have't recieved enough love from the kiddies. Just keep trading them presents (either the rare/ex one the NPC gives you, or the fireworks) If you trade them all, the kids will love you. You can check your love-fame by talking to the NPC. If you recieve enough love, the NPC will offer to send you to another nation, so you can continue the event.

Basically, you want to get all three furnishing items, and then try for the dream robes.

We did Dynamis-Windurst on Tuesday. We were almost at the end, and nothing had dropped yet when a Warrior's Mask dropped. Altemus won the lot, and we had maybe 20 minutes left. Then out of nowhere, Cleric's Duckbills drop. I nearly shit myself!!! Kieris, Shatow, and Khiinroye all lotted.....and then I did.. and my lot was a whopping 961!!!!! I was literally jumping in my chair!!!


But all that glory was totally nullified by my noobishness. We had like 10 minutes left, and it was time to walk by the House-of-Death. I had just finished complaining to Vaul about how laggy it was for me (my sound was skipping, and I saw a constant loop of characters walking-then-blinking, over and over) yet I still tried to walk down the path....my screen stops moving, music stops, 3 seconds later, I find myself auto-ran into the side of the house and being pwned to death by an angry mob of yags.....to then see everyone else around me die. No time to revive and get flag. -.- Let me tell you how horrible I felt. Talk about rain on my parade of just getting that wonderful AF drop. I know people were depending on getting that flag, so that added to my feeling of lousiness. I apologized to everyone in linkshell, and I think they are ok with it. I just felt soo soo bad!

Now for the drama.

Vaul apparently is bored with FFXI....He bought WoW about a month ago and started playing it and just likes the idea of getting away from FFXI every-so-often. He feels that FFXI is more of a time-sink and WoW isn't, plus WoW is easier to solo. Whatever... I'm not really into WoW, nor paying another online subscription. Lately he has become more iritable with FFXI and last night took the cake. We did a few times exploring Appagago Reef, so I suggested us doing an Assault Mission. Long story short, let's just say it didn't go well and Vaul and I got in a fight, to then where he exclaimed in LS that he wouldn't be on for 2 weeks. He is taking a break.

Fine. So be it. I was very mad at him yesterday, mainly for how he talked to me, and for the fact that there are a lot of LS events scheduled this weekend which now he won't be participating in. We were supposed to continue with CoP on friday. The LS is doing their first Dynamis-Valkurm on Saturday, and I was really excited to participate! Afterwards, we're supposed to do a KSNM99: Horns of War. And now Vaul won't be there. It puts me in a situation, because I look forward to playing. I don't have a lot of money, so this is what I do for entertainment. I don't want to jeprodize our relationhsip over a stupid game though. /sigh I basically have to choose this weekened what I plan to do: Play game or not play game. Meh. I don't want to worry about it right now.

Long time no update

Nothing much to report.... had a little bit of drama in the Linkshell (when isn't there drama anywhere). Quik had been feeling some pressure and decided to let it be known. Long story short, Quik is no longer a part of rockage and he is greatly missed. Me and Vaul still hang out with him, but it's still not the same.
We have been progressing with Promy missions every friday. It won't be long until we have sea access!

Woot woot.
Title says it all. I am now 44,000 experience points away from the highly coveted level, 75. I am so amazed I have come this far!!!!!!! I have been having a total blast with the linkshell; learning so much from the veterans and taking part in all the sky events. Let me tell you, endgame isn't as bad as some people say. Maybe because I'm not stressed about it? I don't really "lust" after any particular item. Hell, I didn't even know what Rostram pumps were till Vizzini and Spudz told me about them. We did the run on Saturday night and 5 of us got them! They are really nice, but I still prefer my Blessed pumps. I'm just taking everything in stride, enjoying my experience along the way. Plus, I have made such awesome friendships from this linkshell, and have strengthened already established friendships. It's really nice.

Tonight is Dynamis-Jeuno. Can't wait. Dynamis is always a lot of fun. Tata for now, till a later update.

Kirin Captivator and ding 73!

Been a BUSY few weeks since we got into Rockage! Let me tell you how much fun I have been having!!!! I finally got my ZM missions done, finished the promies and am now on Chapter 2-3, only need 2 more Dynamis flags to get Xar access, have sky access, and finally met Kirin and his little babies. Man that is ONE TOUGH Monster! It was sooooo much fun going with the LS to pwn his ass!!!! I am now a Kirin Captivator and I am enjoying showing off.

I also joined the fellow "blinkers". Yes I finally updated my macros to include an equipment change for every single spell that is in the macro list. And I am very pleased with the results. I now own 7 staves, about 6 different pieces of hMP gear, and various other enhancing gear items. And now that I finally dinged 73, I can equip my Cleric's Pantaloons for casting Bara- spells. Man life is gooood!!!!

Tonight is Dynamis-San D’oria: and I am pumped! It's going to be a total blast! Woot wooot!!!!

Dynamis-Jeuno Interloper

I haven't written in here in quite a long time. I just have been busy and the mood hasn't struck me to blog. A lot has happened in the past few months. Me and Vaulout both beat Maat! It was so incredible!!!!! I went in totally prepared this time, brought plenty of potions, used bat earrings, blinding potions, and hoped for the best. He even called me a wipper snapper. o.O

So since me and Vaulout were in WickedClownz LS, I know we both haven't felt like we have "belonged". Don't get me wrong, the people in the shell are nice, and I totally love Durandel. But something just didn't seem right. For the past few months, Thadin has been telling us to talk to the leader of Rockage and see if we could get in. Now, they are an HNM LS and at first, I was a little skeptical about asking to join. I'm not into all of that endgame stuff; I am still enjoying my time leveling leisurely and just going at my own pace. But again, something felt like it was missing. So last week, I sent a /tell to Vizzini and told him I had heard about the ls from a friend and I was interested in giving them a shot. He gave me quite an interesting interview. He asked me all sorts of questions, regarding where I stand playing this game, what's important to me, etc. The interview went great, and he let me in. Vaul was let in shortly after me. We even did a Dynamis the first night we were in, and let me tell you how much fun that was!!!!!!! It was the most incredible form of organized chaos anyone could experience. And things are just looking up. All of our friends are in this LS! Thadin, Varan, Moadib, Arci to name a few. It's like me and Vaul are "home".

But with this happiness comes some.... drama...To say the least. (Why is there always drama?) I don't know the whole story.. But back a few years ago, when Vaul was in OrderofJudgement with Tarrent and a bunch of others, things went sour. I think Tarr wanted to go off and try his own thing... And I guess a big fight ensued between him and Vizz. I am not going to post about stuff I don't know, so that's all I am leaving that at. Well word gets around, and people know that Vaul and I are in rockage now... and I guess people are unhappy. I was warned to watch my back.... o.O Pa-lease! I am sick of the petty bullshit drama. This is a fucking game. I will enjoy it the best way I can. All I know is that in rockage, I don't get ridiculed for not having access to sky(actually, though, they got us sky access within 4 days of being in the LS. That's right, Me and Vaul have SKY!!!). I don't get yelled at for not having a job to 75 yet. I don't get made fun of because my crafts are only lvl 50-ish, or I don't have +1 gear. I can't stand that "I am holier than thou" attitude that has sprung up these past few months on the server.

You know what I have to say about that?

Rockage members are so so so so so nice. They are helpful also!!!! At this point, I now consider myself a noob again because there is still so much to learn about the game. Now that Vaul and I can do so much more, it's like we have to learn again. And I am ok with that. And I am happy we have a "family" that is willing to be patient with us. So if that means I have to watch my back??? psshhhaa!

I reassured to Vizz that I wasn't going anywhere; I am not a "loot-n-scoot" kind of player. I want to stick it out until the end and really show my gratitude to the linkshell.

We did Dynamis-Jeuno last night.... and we won! I got my 1st Flag! I am now a Dynamis-Jeuno Interloper! And even better, whm Cleric's Pantaloons Rare/Ex lvl 73 pants dropped... and I was allowed to lot - and I GOT THEM! I was literally jumping out of my chair! I thanked everyone so much after that, but then I felt guilty, because I have only been in the shell for less than a week. But Vizz said it was perfectly fine, that my soul now belonged to rockage. =P

Other than that, I think I am done blogging for now. Just wanted to give a nice update.

So Vaul and I finally leveled on wednesday night. I am finally 68! Know what that means? Yup. I can wear my Noble's Tunic. It looks sooooo pretty on me, mot to mention the stats are just friggin LOVELY!

I was drooling when I finally equipped it. Needless to say, I'm in an awesome mood. Like I said in the last post, I have moved on. On the side, Vaul and I are leveling other jobs, for the heck of it. Me on Corsair, and him on Bard. We are both liking them tremendously; so much in fact these might be our next jobs to 75. Anyway, ta ta!

Moving on.

I haven't posted on here in a while. Been really busy.
So having a static is great. I am very comfortable with these guys, and I even consider them friends. We just need a static refresher and we're set. Oh well.
My and Vaul are finally level 67, almost 68. We lost a lot of XP on Saturday due to the many deaths from dynamis. But that'll probably stop.... Because I left the linkshell.

I've been wanting to leave for a while; ever since the merge, the hostility and lack of respect has sky-rocketed. Now don't get me wrong, a lot of good things came out of the merger. We met some wonderful people, and I would do anything to help them out. But after last night, I have had it with inconsiderate people.
Now Vaul said I over reacted and that I can never let things go. Well I am letting this go, for good. I'm done.

It started when one of the members was spouting off his BS (as he always does). He's a sack holder; so I thought this sort of behavior was uncalled for. The long and short of it is: he doesn't respect people. I don't know how the conversation started, but I was just chatting with others about the Sun breeze Festival. As cheesy as it is, I enjoy it because it's silly and fun. You get fireworks and you can go goldfish-scooping. So I was saying how I had taken my scoop out of storage and was excited to start scooping again. Well, he went off about how stupid it is. So I replied with "That's your opinion". He continued with "No, it's a fact. It is pointless." I basically let it go... And continued to do what I was doing. Then one of the other members was complaining about merit points, and that you can't get anything after 75, etc. (He's notorious for complaining about everything) and that he'd probably quit at 75. Well, the sack-holder member (as you can see, I am leaving out names) went on to say that endgame was the best and that the only reason to play the game is to get to endgame. Well I said that I didn't even have sky access and had no interest in endgame. He went on to say that I will not go far in the game and that I should just quit now. So I said, "well, I'm having fun" and he said "your idea of fun is flawed. That is not the way you play the game." I said "Who are you to tell me how I have fun? It's a video game, I play to hang out with my friends and talk and just shoot the shit" and again he said "That's not how you're supposed to play the game. You aren't experiencing the real meaning of the game. You should just quit now because you will never amount to anything." Well that really pissed me off. (at the same time, others are arguing with him). I said "I am very happy with the progress I have made in the game. What I do is what I consider fun. What you do is what you consider fun, so let's leave it at that." And he goes on about how much he has accomplished and the goal of a game is to beat it. And other people said that you can't beat Final Fantasy. He begged to differ that you can indeed beat it. I said "There are different views on what people consider 'beating the game'. Some may think it's getting high level in crafting. Others may think it's getting rank 10 in all nations. Others may think it's endgame. It's all an opinion." and he goes "It's not opinion, its fact. You don't play the correct way." Blah blah blah. At one point he even went on to say that I need to experience real life and what am I hiding from that I have to play a video game? o.O Are you kidding me?????? WHY IS HE PLAYING A VIDEO GAME THEN???? I have nothing to hide. I play for fun. I don't have to justify myself to anyone.

And it went on like that. I probably should have just ignored him, but I was so pissed off because how he had no regard for other people in the linkshell. I said that he had to get off his high horse, that his opinion was just that : his and no one else's and he had no rite to determine how any individual has fun.

This wasn't the first time he has disrupted the linkshell. A few weeks ago, he went on about how all PC users are cheaters. I asked "how is that so?" and he said "Because you all use windowers." And I said "no, actually I don't use a windower." and he said "Yes you do, you're a PC user." I just unequipped shell at that point.

But last night was more than I could take. Should I have argued with him publicly in the shell? Probably not. But I didn't feel he had the rite to say the things he did, so I guess I basically went out with a bang. After the conversation, I told Vaul that I was dropping my pearl and moving on.
I told a few of my friends, and I think they may be moving on as well. I don't need people like that. I am sad. I have been with most of these people for over a year now. Trusts have been built and friendships have been made. But there are a few sour apples in the bunch that are really ruining the experience. I don't need stress from a video game... Isn't that an oxy moron? Stress from a video game? What the hell?? Oh well. One closed chapter in FFXI for me. Time to open a new one.

Well I must say out little static is working out quite nicely. I believe we filled the last 3 spots in it, and I am quite pleased. We all seem to have the same schedules, and our fighting styles mesh together very well. Even when there are deaths (which are expected) things still run smoothly. And the best thing is I like how considerate everyone is about everyone else. Last night we were playing and I started to just feel awful, but I didn't to just disband the party (only had been at it about 2 hours), but everyone was ok with us leaving earlier than normal; I was able to stick around for at least our Drk to level, and he was very appreciative of that. =) This makes the game fun. It's not about getting experience points and leveling; it's how you get there. The journey is what makes it so worth while. For that I am thankful, and enjoying this game muchly. =)

It's been a while since I have written in here, so I decided it's time for an update. Nothing major has been going on, except experience points parties. Vaul and I are finally level 63. Our mission to 65 is close and we'll finally be able to do Dynamis. Been having fun with our static. It's really nice having one, because we all have kinda the same schedules so when we want to party, it's likely. Anyway, gotta go. Been really busy. Bye!

Been a busy week. Vaulout and I did our first BEseiged on Friday - and man was it fun. A little laggy, but it was still pretty cool. On Saturday, we finished up on all the Al Zhabi Missions (up until assault anyway) so now we can gain xp in Beseiged. We've been leveling like crazy. I'm level 61 now, he's almost level 62. We'll be playing tonight, so most likely we'll level again. It's so cool being high up there in the levels. I feel now I can finally help with stuff. Ok, not much more to talk about. Byes!

This is from a party experience from 2 nights ago. I had to just get this out.

We had just gotten to Gustav Tunnel with the entire party. We buff up and start killing gobs and crabs. Things are going ok, then I get a tell to raise someone. I tell them to hold on, in the middle of a chain. Well, we happened to get 2 adds, on chain #3 and chain #5. (everything still went well). While killing the #5 add, I get another tell, from the same person asking for a Raise. I said "Please wait, I am in the middle of an active chain".

Finally, we finish and I tell party what's going on. Unfortunately, 2 are JP so it was a little difficult translating to them. I sneak and invis myself and head to the position. Well, on the way to the position, I get a tell from a different person asking for a raise. I ask them if they are with the 1st person that sent me the tell - they said yes. I said I was on my way.

I get there, 3 dead bodies. All /anon. They were at least 60+ because everyone had AF gear. I Raise I the rdm, who then gets aggro from a bat instantly. (he proceeds to slowly kill it) I sit and heal, then raise the next person. At this point, my party is pretty pissed because it's taking so long. I finally raise the 3rd person. Then, in say chat, I say {Reraise} {item}s {Do you have it?} They all say no. I say "Well you should consider getting them, this is very inconvenient for my party". Well one of them says to me "Sorry your highness".

o.O WTF?!?!?!

With that, I left and returned to my party... pretty miffed off because they were so rude and I had to drop what I was doing to go raise them.

Well, about a half hour after my return, one of the members that I raised decides to hang out around our party. He started following our puller, and claiming mobs before him, and then brought them back to our camp and kills stuff in front of us! And he did this - for about an hour!!!!! It was so friggin' annoying!! I use as many chat filters as possible, to cut down on lag, but all the commotion/sound/animation that this individual was causing with his mob was more than my computer wanted to handle. So I had constant lag the entire time he decided to piss off my party. Eventually, everyone in the party told him to leave. He didn't. So we moved our camp to another part of Gustav tunnel.

15 minutes later... he's back. WTF!??!?!

I'm not mentioning names, but you know who you are. One thing that is disappointing is that he is in a LS that is pretty well known, and one of our best friends is in that LS and I find that very disheartening.

Seriously, grow the hell up. It's your own damn fault for not bringing a reraise item with you, and not having a whm as well. You have no rite to disrupt my party time for your ignorance.

Last night's party, however, was quite lovely. We've been doing a static. Me (whm/blm), Vaulout (nin/war), Thadin (blm/smn) and Forbiden (war/nin). And then we just find a refresher and another mellee. Things have been going very well. I understand how the players do their jobs now, and I know what to expect. It's hardly ever stressful - and actually quite fun.

I was worried that I would soon become bored with whm, like Vaul did. But I still really like it. It's such an awesome job, and I like when things go well. Ok...post over. Have a nice day.

I got level 58 last night!!!!!! So you know what that means!!! I get to wear my Healer's Briault!!! I love it! I now look like a whitemage. I'm so excited, because while this is my highest job, I am enjoying it imensely and I can't wait to continue leveling so I can explore even more areas with Vaulout. Woo hoo! {All right!}
